Man Survives After Car Smashes Into Diner

An American war veteran is lucky to be alive after a car ploughed through a wall and into his table at his favourite diner.


Kenneth Anderson was enjoying a cup of coffee at a North Carolina eatery when the 4WD smashed through the cafe wall, slamming his chair and table into the counter three metres away.


Amazingly, he remained upright in his seat and was unhurt by the flying debris and glass — with CCTV capturing him casually picking up his hat and searching the rubble for his smokes.


"I was trying to find my cigarettes," Anderson told American television.
"The doctor who checked me couldn't believe I didn't have a broken bone, just cuts and bruises [was] all he could find.


"I got shot at in Vietnam, I jumped out of airplanes but I never had nothing like that happen to me."


The 60-year-old female driver told police she blacked out behind the wheel before ramming into the diner at 90km/h.
