Sydney Has More Style Than Melbourne

Sydney is becoming one of the world's most fashionable cities - but one of the worst if you want to park your car.


The latest snapshots of Australia's biggest city came in the results of two separate studies looking at trends around the globe.


In the style stakes, Sydney leapfrogged five places to seventh spot in the Global Language Monitor's (GLM) top fashion cities 2008 while Melbourne dropped three to 18th.


New York claimed first place for the fifth consecutive year followed by Rome, Paris, Milan, London and Los Angeles.


On a regional basis, Sydney was judged best dressed in the Asia Pacific ahead of Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Melbourne.
